Pountney, Jackie
Jackie Pountney has worked at BILD since 2004, where she supports organisations to offer learning disability qualifications to their staff. Before this she worked with people with learning disabilities, firstly within Birmingham Social Services Department, and later in a Further Education College. She has co-authored ‘Not behind the bikeshed’ a resource pack for teaching health and social education to people with learning disabilities, and was the author of ‘Your role as a learning disability worker’ and ‘Protecting people who have a learning disability from abuse’.

Barcham, Lesley
Lesley Barcham’s career has been about learning. She trained as a teacher of deaf children in the 1970s and started out as a hearing therapist and then teacher of secondary aged deaf children. She has also worked in residential child care and teaching children with learning disabilities and adults with a learning disability in a further education college. Lesley gained a PhD from the Open University in the 1990s for her research into the development of education for disabled children in Southern Africa. Lesley has worked for BILD for 14 years on a variety of learning materials and programmes. From 2009 – 2011 she was seconded part time to the Valuing People Team as workforce advisor.
