The text edited in this volume includes the myths of Visnu’s manifestation as the Man-Lion (Narasimha), the birth of Skanda, the birth of Andhaka, and Hiranyaksa’s battle with the gods culminating in his victory and capture of the Earth.

Peter Bisschop, Ph.D. (2004), University of Groningen, is Professor of Sanskrit and Ancient Cultures of South Asia at Leiden University. He is the author of Early Saivism and the Skandapurana: Sects and Centres (Egbert Forsten, 2006) and The Skandapurana IIB (Brill, 2014).

Yuko Yokochi, Ph.D. (2004), University of Groningen, is Professor of Sanskrit Literature at the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University. She is the author of The Skandapurana III (Egbert Forsten / Brill, 2013) and The Skandapurana IIB (Brill, 2014).
