This book seeks to contribute to a better understanding of globalisation, risk, and home ownership in Western-European countries.
Based on research funded by the European Union, the book provides a systematic description of eight European countries, each with their own historical, social, economic, and political context, accounting for a rich diversity of home ownership markets and experiences of home ownership. At the same time, the editors signal common strands, overall developments, and converging processes of a more global housing market.
Globalisation and Home-Ownership describes the home- ownership market and experiences of home ownership of Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the UK. Specific attention is given to the impact of financial markets, labour markets, welfare systems, housings systems, and people's behaviour and risk on the market and the experiences of home owners.
