The Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS) is The Official Journal of the AAOS. JAAOS is primarily a clinical journal which covers the broad expanse of contemporary orthopaedic practice:
• Basic Science

• General Orthopaedics
• Hand and Wrist
• Hip and Knee
• Musculoskeletal Oncology
• Pediatrics
• Shoulder and Elbow
• Spine
• Sports Medicine
• Trauma

Standard review articles present a balanced approach to the current state of knowledge on a
topic of interest to practicing orthopaedic surgeons; these are a distillation of the evidence basis that guides current practice by recognized, expert authors.
Orthopaedic Advances articles give readers objective appraisals of recent or controversial techniques and new developments in orthopaedic surgery.
On the Horizon From the ORS offers periodic updates on basic science research presented by the Orthopaedic Research Society.
The Training Room focuses on publishing educational topics around orthopaedic resident education, simulation-based training, musculoskeletal education in medical school, and more.
Summary articles highlight the critical elements in each of the Academy's evidence-based
Clinical Practice Guidelines and Appropriate Use Criteria as they are approved by the
AAOS Board of Directors.
In addition, throughout the year, JAAOS offers many other benefits of interest to its readership, such as
• The annual address given by each incoming President of the Academy
• Monthly JAAOS Unplugged ® podcasts featuring select article synopses with invited author interviews
• The JAAOS Journal Club featuring AAOS courses with a panel of course faculty, and special topics

Published twice every month, JAAOS provides crucial information of the highest quality to assist the practicing orthopaedic professional.
