To arrive at the most appropriate decision regarding patient management, an essential step is for medical practitioners to determine a correct and accurate diagnosis of the patient's condition. In recent years there have been significant technological efforts in chemistry, biochemistry, laboratory science and biotechnology towards improving disease diagnosis and management in patients. Further, drug developers have utilized some of these novel diagnostic methods during preclinical and clinical trials that have led to creating efficiencies in their development processes. This book provides an overview of diagnostic procedures that aid in precision medicine and the drug development process.

- Presents innovative methodologies for diagnostic testing that will be beneficial to biomedical science researchers and health professionals.

- Discusses recent significant technological advancement towards improving disease diagnosis.

- Describes recent developments in spectroscopic and chromatographic methods that will be of interest to pharma companies, scientists in chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacology.

- Gives an overview of integration of artificial intelligence in digital health that will be beneficial to biotechnologists, bioengineers, health professionals and people in regulatory agencies.

- Suitable globally for graduate and postgraduate students studying laboratory medicine.

Emmanuel Kwaku Ofori (PhD) is currently a Senior Lecturer and the Head of the Department of Chemical Pathology at the University of Ghana Medical School. He obtained his PhD in July 2018 from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. He teaches several disciplines in the health sciences (medical, nursing, veterinary, and laboratory sciences, amongst others). He has supervised and mentored many undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research focuses on lipidomics, metabolic medicine, and steroidal adaptations to diet and exercise. He aims to become an international expert on translational research into metabolic diseases. He has about 38 publications to his credit. He has also presented several abstracts at global conferences. He is the Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and the Journal of Diabetes Research.

Seth Kwabena Amponsah (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Medical Pharmacology at the University of Ghana Medical School. He has had post-doctoral fellowships under the BANGA-Africa Project and BSU III (DANIDA - Denmark). He has over 13 years experience in teaching and research. His research focus includes Clinical Pharmacology (infectious disease and antimicrobial stewardship): prudent use of antimicrobials, antimicrobial level monitoring, and efficacy of antimicrobials in patients. He has experience in population pharmacokinetic modelling, non-compartment pharmacokinetic estimation, and pharmacokinetic evaluation of new drug formulations. He has published over 60 research articles, 4 books, 20 book chapters and several conference abstracts. He is an Academic Editor for PLOS One and an Associate Editor for Pan African Medical Journal.

Yashwant V. Pathak (PhD) has over 15 years of versatile administrative experience in an institution of higher education as a dean (and over 30 years as a faculty member and researcher in higher education after his PhD). Presently holds the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Tenured Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prof. Yashwant Pathak is an internationally recognized scholar, researcher and educator in health care education, nanotechnology, drug delivery systems and nutraceuticals. He has received many international and national awards, including four Fulbright Fellowships, Endeavour Executive Fellowship by Australian Government, four outstanding faculty awards, and he was selected as a Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2021 for his contribution towards the advancement of science. He has published over 350 research publications, reviews and chapters in various books. He has edited over 60 books in various fields, including nanotechnology, nutraceuticals, conflict management and cultural studies. He is also actively involved in many non-profit organizations, to mention a few: Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, USA, Sewa International USA, International Accreditation Council for Dharma Schools and Colleges, International Commission for Human Rights and Religious Freedom, and Uberoi Foundation for Religious Studies, among others.
