Sustainability in the Manufacturing of Pharmaceutical serves as a critical reference for an industry in need of a substantial shift towards more sustainable practices. Currently lagging behind other manufacturing segments, the production of pharmaceuticals requires changes in critical areas such as manufacturing methods, waste management, packaging, and supply-chain. This book offers content from leading researchers around the world providing scientific insights and innovative strategies to revolutionize sustainability in pharmaceuticals. The chapters explore the transformative potential of circular economy and life cycle management, optimization of resource utilization for maximum efficiency and minimal environmental impact. The green chemistry chapter highlights alternative solvents and methods for drug production. Additionally, the book explores novel approaches such as microfluidic and additive manufacturing methods using bio-based sustainable polymers and materials, pointing to promising greener methods for drug discovery, development, and scaling processes. Sustainability in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing provides cutting-edge research across all stages of the production cycle, enabling researchers in academia and industry to make appropriate choices to improve their manufacturing practices. The book provides resources to pharmaceutical industry managers to thinking about the future and importance of sustainability in the pharmaceutical sector.
