The First Australasian Conodont Symposium, AUSCOS-I, was held at Macquarie University, Sydney, in July 1995. Twentytwo papers from that meeting were edited by us and published as Courier Forschungsinstitut Senckenberg Vol 182. The meeting was mounted by the Macquarie University Centre for Ecostratigraphy and Palaeobiology (MUCEP). The Second Australasian Conodont Symposium, AUSCOS-II, held in the city of Orange, New South Wales, in July 2000, formed part of a larger convention, Palaeontology Down Under, again mounted by MUCEP. As the previous volume, this corpus of papers covers a wide range of topics: from conodont palaeobiology, taxonomy, shape analysis and sedimentary/tectonic applications, to biostratigraphic alignments in many regions of the globe, principally Australia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Italy, USA, Sweden, Russia and Iran.
