Mine Tailings: Fundamental and Engineering Aspects of Colloidal/Fine Mine Wastes closely examines mine waste and issues related to storage, safety, the environment, water, and sustainability. The book opens with a review of the regulations and global standards of tailings management along with a look at common types of tailings storage facilities. Several chapters detail the behavior of tailings materials, such as particle interactions and dispersion/aggregation, rheology of mineral suspensions, soil mechanics, and toxic substance treatment. There is an in-depth look at managing the closure of mine waste management facilities as well as the safety of tailings storage facilities. Finally, the authors examine the environmental, social, and government factors necessary for sustainable mining operations. This text provides a valuable resource for researchers and engineers interested in understanding and mitigating the impacts of mine waste.

Nascimento, Sibele
Dr. Sibele Nascimento is a mining engineer, with specialization in georesources and extensive experience in mine wastes characterization. For her PhD, she characterized the Queen and the King River system to evaluate the environmental impacts of one of the worst cases of acid mine drainage in Australia and to assess the economic potential for the tailings stored in the King River delta. Previously, she concluded a master's degree in the EIT labelled Emerald master's in resources engineering in Europe, with a robust background in mineral characterization, geochemistry, mineral processing, geometallurgy and circular economy. Currently, Sibele works for the University of Queensland and does mineralogical and geochemical characterization of mine wastes across Australia.

Caamiño, Adrian Keith R.
Adrian Keith R. Caamiño is currently a Faculty of the Mining Engineering Program of the Department of Materials and Resources Engineering & Technology of Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology in the Philippines. He recently obtained his Master of Science in Resources Engineering degree from the 'Université de Liège in Belgium as his host institution together with the Université de Lorraine and Luleå University of Technology as partner universities. His research focuses on geometallurgy, characterization of materials, resource estimation as well as mine water quality assessment and mine water treatment. He continues to mentor and involves himself on different research projects related to his research interest.
