Composite materials, with their higher exposure to dynamic loads, have increasingly been used in aerospace, naval, automotive, sports, and other sectors over the last few decades. This new edition of Dynamic Deformation, Damage, and Fracture in Composite Materials and Structures reviews various aspects of dynamic deformation, damage, and fracture, mostly in composite laminates and sandwich structures, in a broad range of applications including aerospace, automotive, defense, and sports engineering. As the mechanical behavior and performance of composites varies under different dynamic loading regimes and velocities, the book is divided into sections examining those different regimes and velocities. Part one examines low-velocity loading and part two looks at high-velocity loading. Part three assesses shock and blast events and the fourth section covers impact and penetrative events, looking specifically at sport applications. The book concludes with a section on the effects of projectile hardness on FRP impact response.

The second edition has been updated to cover important new developments such as the use of additive manufacturing to create composites, including fibre-reinforced ones. New microstructural, experimental, theoretical, and numerical studies with advanced tools are included as well. The book also features 10 new chapters covering topics such as dynamic delamination, peridynamic modeling of dynamic fracture in composites, mesoscale analysis of ballistic composite impact, dynamic fracture of 3D-printed composites, and more.
