Which Jesus Christ do readers of religious school textbooks encounter? This is the question pursued in this volume. The author examines in what way the theme of Jesus Christ is dealt with in school textbooks, and what their underlying christological and religious didactic conceptions are. To this end, she has selected for study the stage I secondary level volumes of the religious textbook series “Kursbuch Religion”, which is widely acknowledged and used by teachers in German-speaking countries. The study concentrates on parables, miracles, and explicit christological issues. The way in which they are dealt with in the “Kursbuch Religion” series clearly reflects both the different christological approaches and the development of religious education in German-speaking countries within the period under study (1976–2007).>
