The present textbook is written for undergraduate students of chemical engineering as per the syllabus framed by AICTE curriculum. It explains the basic chemical process principles in a lucid manner. Ram Prasad (PhD from IIT Kanpur) is former Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur (erstwhile Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur). He has 38 years of industrial, teaching and research experience. He has contributed to the Encyclopedia of Chemical Processing and Design, Handbook of Piping Design and 36 research papers in International/National journals/conferences. He has also authored four books of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Prasad is one of the editors of 12-volume series of Energy Science and Technology, published by Studium Press LLC, Houston, U.S.A. He is the Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow Member of Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of Solar Energy Society of India, Oil Technologists Association of India and Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
