John Hearle is Emeritus Professor of Textile Technology in the University of Manchester and Senior Consultant to Tension Technology International. He has been a Visiting Associate Professor at MIT and is an Honorary Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Textile Institute, UK. His life-long work on the mechanics of fibres and fibre assemblies and on fibre fracture and fatigue is recognised internationally.
