David Midgley is a process engineer specializing in the performance characteristics of rotating compressors and pumps. His experience spans some 40 years, having started with the de-Havilland Engine Company where he oversaw the design, manufacture, and building of aircraft gas turbine engines. Mr. Midgley joined the British Oxygen Company's Scientific Division in charge of storage and handling of cryogenic liquid gases. He then became an engineering manager responsible for the modernization and development of BOC's tanker fleet, designed to transport liquid gases by road and pump fill storage tanks. Mr. Midgley was recruited by Cryostar AG, an American company located in Basel, Switzerland, to oversee design and manufacture of cryogenic centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, gas compressors, and expansion turbines for the processing industry.
