At first glance, the words ‘culture’ and ‘economy’ may not appear to have much in common. In
fact, some might consider that they occupy entirely different worlds. Yet in both these worlds
courage, motivation and innovation are fundamental characteristics. Culture and economy
provide a foundation for life-economy in a more material way, and culture in a more idealistic
way. However, when the word ‘culture’ is thematically connected with ‘economy’, negative
associations are often generated – even though all those who are employed in cultural
professions draw their financial income from culture, and know very well that culture creates
and guarantees employment.
