Bianca Maria Pirani, Professor of Sociology of Cultural Networks at the Department of Social Sciences, Faculty of Political Sciences, Communication, and Sociology, “Sapienza,” University of Rome, Italy, is President of the Research Committee 54 “The Body in the Social Sciences” of the International Sociological Association. She is an Editorial Board member of Sage Studies in International Sociology. She has published widely on the ever increasing insights into the relations between human bodies and social knowledge as the editor of the following publications: “Bodily Order. Mind, Emotion and Social Memory” in Current Sociology, vol. 53 n. 2 (Sage, 2006); The New Boundaries between Bodies and Technologies (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2008); Acting Bodies and Social Networks, Volume I: The Body as Social Icon and Volume II: Mapping Bodies in Networked Space (University Press of America). Her forthcoming book in Italian is The Body as Social Link: A Bridge between Memory and Technology.
