This volume, Applied Social Sciences: Sociology, offers the reader a wide collection of quantitative and qualitative studies from different research areas such as medical sociology, political sociology, sociology of communication, sociology of culture, sociology of education, sociology of migration, sociology of population, and urban sociology. Über Autor(innen)

Patricia-Luciana Runcan currently works as a Senior Lecturer at the West University of Timisoara, Romania. She holds a BA in Sociology from the same University, a BA in Law from the “Tibiscus” University of Timisoara, and a PhD in Sociology from the West University of Timisoara. Her main areas of interest include social work and sociology. She has authored Social Workers Face to Face with Their Clients (2006), Social Work: Family and Child (2008), Child Protection in Romania (2009), The National System of Social Work (2009), Depression in the Elderly (2010), Successful Scientific Paper in Humanities (2010), and The Case Management Method (2011).

Georgeta Rata currently works as an Associate Professor at the Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Timisoara, Romania. She holds a BA in French and English and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Bucharest, Romania. Her main areas of interest include languages, communication, and education sciences. She has co-edited Social Sciences Today: Between Theory and Practice (2010) and Academic Days of Timisoara: Social Sciences Today (2011).

Mihai-Bogdan Iovu currently works as a Senior Lecturer at the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He holds a BA in Social Work and a PhD in Sociology from the same university. His main areas of interest include child maltreatment, children’s rights, child protection policies, and evidence-based social work practices. He has authored The Social Universe of Adolescence in the Context of Physical Disability (2007) and Conceptualizing Child Abuse and Neglect within the Family (2008).
