This book covers the various aspects of laser micromachining (LBMM) and micro electro-discharge machining (uEDM) sequential hybrid process. LBMM-mEDM-based hybrid micromachining is a growing interest among researchers because of its unique features to harness the advantages of the two primary methods. This book guides the readers to implement this LBMM-mEDM-based hybrid process for the micromachining process efficiently to achieve a higher production rate with improved machining quality. It will provide the basic understanding about the LBMM-mEDM process, how the primary process's parameters affect the overall performance of the hybrid machining's outcome, how the hybrid process can be mathematically modelled to describe various observed phenomena of the said micromachining method. This book caters to researchers and industrial practitioners who are interested in precision and high throughput machining.

Dr. Tanveer Saleh is a Professor in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Prior to joining IIUM, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He earned his Ph.D. in 2009 from the National University of Singapore (NUS). His primary research interests include non-conventional and hybrid micromachining, the application of machine learning in manufacturing, and automation/robotics in manufacturing. Alhamdulillah, his research is supported by various national and international funding agencies, including the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, the Ministry of Science and Technology Malaysia, and the U.S. Air Force.

Mir Akmam Noor Rashid has been serving as a Senior Scientific Officer at the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture, Dhaka, since 2011. He obtained his Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2024. He completed his B.Sc. in Manufacturing Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) in 2010.

Wan Ahmad Bin Wan Azhar is a Ph.D. student in Mechatronics Engineering at the International Islamic University Malaysia, where he also earned his Master’s degree. His research focuses on developing automation and machine technologies, particularly in hybrid micromachining, which combines laser beam micromachining with micro electrical discharge machining. He previously worked as a research engineer in the automobile industry, specializing in machine development and fabrication.

Wazed Ibne Noor has been working as a Lecturer at the University of Creative Technology Chittagong since 2022 and has recently been appointed as the Program Coordinator for the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In 2023, he earned his Master’s degree in Mechatronics from the International Islamic University Malaysia. He completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2017.
