There is no theory that is not aesthetic in a certain way. Adorno, too, did not understand his aesthetic theory simply as a theory of the aesthetic, but was aware of the aesthetic implications of theory. At the same time we have to do with aesthetic objects and events in which an aesthetic theory is inherent, which show themselves as art. So from both sides—theory and aesthetics—a link can be made to the etymological meaning of theoria, which understands the theoretical as a seeing or perspective. The book examines this link and simultaneity, focusing equally on the aesthetic implications of theory and the theoretical implications of aesthetic events.

Sasse, Sylvia
Sylvia Sasse ist Professorin für Slawistische Literaturwissenschaft an der Universität Zürich. Sie ist Mitbegründerin des ZKK (Zentrum für Künste und Kulturtheorie), Mitglied des ZGW (Zentrum Geschichte des Wissens) und Mitherausgeberin von 'Geschichte der Gegenwart'
(www.geschichtedergegenwart.ch).

Zanetti, Sandro
Sandro Zanetti ist Professor für Allgemeine und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft an der Universität Zürich. Er studierte Germanistik, Geschichte und Philosophie in Basel, Freiburg im Breisgau und Tübingen. Bis zu seinem Wechsel nach Zürich 2011 forschte und lehrte er in Frankfurt am Main, Basel, Berlin und Hildesheim. Die aktuellen Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen im Bereich der Produktionsästhetik, der Literatur und Kunst der Avantgarde sowie der Poetik der (Un-)Wahrscheinlichkeit.

Mersch, Dieter
Dieter Mersch war bis zu seiner Emeritierung Professor fu¨r Ästhetik an der Zu¨rcher Hochschule der Künste und ist Präsident der Deutschen Gesellschaft fu¨r Ästhetik. Studium der Mathematik und Philosophie in Köln, Bochum und Darmstadt. Mitherausgeber des Internationalen Jahrbuchs fu¨r Medienphilosophie. Arbeitsschwerpunkte: Philosophische Ästhetik, Kunsttheorie, Medienphilosophie, Bildtheorie, Musikphilosophie und kontinentale Philosophie des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts.
